........After
the making of Dark City Alex Proyas said that is next film won't
be another dark film. Six month later he was excited about a low
budget comedy he was co-writing. Some other rumor said that Proyas
will direct Hardwired. Now Variety is reporting that Proyas is working
on The Masque of the Red Death. I think we must wait and see. The
majority of the news on this portion of the site are unique on the
web and the world. So please
if you take info here for your site advise me before. Thanks.
The Masque
of the Red Death [big
screen version of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic short story]
July 1999
Stuart Hazeldine and Alex have been working
together on a re-interpretation of Poe's "Masque of the Red Death"
for Fox 2000. Alex envisages this as a medieval fantasy on a grand
scale.
June 1999
Contrary to what he told the Insider
last year, it’s not a lightweight sunny film. Variety is reporting
that Proyas will team with writer Stuart Hazeldine to craft a script
for a new big screen version of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic short
story The Masque of the Red Death for
Fox 2000. Proyas will also direct the eventual film. Proyas will
also act as producer on the film along with Andrew Mason and Julie
Corman.
Quatermass & The Pit
[remake of the British
sci-fi]
1998-99

No
title yet [low
budget Comedy]
July 1999
The comedy about the Sydney garage band is proceeding with Fox
Searchlight and is still looking to be the most likely project to
shoot next. At this stage Alex is hoping to begin shooting sometime
early 2000.
February 1999
"...I will say that the project I'm currently most excited about
is an original screenplay I'm co-writing with an Australian writer,
Dave Warner, for a low budget comedy. It revolves around a group
of characters in a garage band in Sydney, but will still involve
an extensive use of the "fantastic" as we get an opportunity to
explore the somewhat tortured psyches of the central characters..."
Hardwired
[big budget Science Fiction]
April 2000
"Fox is sending Vintar to Australia to work on a production polish
of Hardwired with Alex Proyas. Hopes are high that this will go
before the cameras soon. Fans of this sceenplay should be pleased!
"By the way, the new producer on deck is Christopher Dow, replacing
Andrew Mason, who no longer works with Mr. Proyas. That is in addition
to Laurence Mark, who had this project set up once at Disney."
February 2000
"Alex Proyas is in Los Angeles shooting a short project, and also
meeting with executives on Hardwired, which is expected be his next
film. Work on the final shooting script begins in February."
