Liposuction is a technique employed for remodeling fat tissue. It is used to treat localized areas under a firm skin. The indications for it`s use are specific. It is not a treatment for obesity or cellulite. The long term results are good as the fat removed in this fashion is removed permanently. This technique has improved the treatment of fat problems in the hip and thigh areas where previous surgical procedures produced excessive scarring. The fat tissue is suctioned away through a tube or canula attached to a suction pump. Normally fluid is injected into the tissues prior to this in order to dilute the fatty tissue and ease it`s removal. This is a procedure that is normally done under general anaesthesia as an out patient, however smaller areas can be treated under local anaesthesia as an out patient either at the hospital or office.

Lipectomy (tummy tuck or Abdominoplasty) is a procedurei in which excessive skin and fat is removed from the middle or lower part of the abdominal wall. Distended skin is tightened, the abdominal musculature reinforced, and the lower abdomen flattened. The appearance of the abdomen is improved by removing skin folds, scarring and stretch marks. Multiple pregnancies and marked weight gain are frequently responsible as they stretch the abdominal wall tissues. Sometimes the deeper elastic structures are torn, resulting in stretch marks. Proper diet and exercise may help up to apoint after weight loss or a pregnancy, but no amount of exercise will take away laxity and skin folds. Abdominoplasty is a common operation in plastic surgery. The results are usuall very satisfactory. This operation improves a patient`s figure, allows her to better acquire properly fitting clothing, and to be more comfortable while engaging in physical activity.

Breast lift and Breast Reduction: Mastopexy and breast reduction are somewhat similar. These operations are both aimed at remodeling the breast. The reduction does this by removing a suitable segment of a large breast and reshaping it. The mastopexy does it by removing mainly skin and a small amount of breast tissue. A prosthesis may be incorporated in order to enlarge and firm th breast.Betterresults are now being achieved through newer surgical techniques. Reductions are carried out to relieve back, shoulder and neck pain, skin irritation and problems with clothing which are common in women with large pendulous breasts. Mastopexy is done for aesthetic reasons. With both procedures the surgeon will improve the shape and the symmetry of the breast.
